Dr. T. Shawn Stephens is a dedicated optometrist passionate about improving his patients' eye health. Practicing in Vienna since 2002, Dr. Stephens joined the Eye Doctors team in 2021, bringing with him nearly two decades of experience and a commitment to personalized eye care. His own childhood vision challenges inspired his journey into optometry, motivating him to help others experience the gift of clear sight.
Originally from Tennessee, Dr. Stephens graduated with high honors from the University of Tennessee, where he contributed to groundbreaking research in oncology and neurology. Working alongside renowned researchers Dr. Karl Hubner and Dr. Naresh Gupta on positron emission tomography studies, and Dr. Nick Potter on multiple sclerosis research, he developed a strong foundation in healthcare.
Dr. Stephens earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in 2001, graduating with honors. He was actively involved as Class President, Executive Director of Student Volunteers in Optometric Service to Humanity, and Vice President of the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society. His leadership and dedication earned him numerous accolades, including the Class Act Award, Humanitarian of the Year, Leadership Award, and Professionalism Award.
Beyond optometry, Dr. Stephens has pursued studies in Biblical Studies at Florida College and Latin American Studies at Universidade Federal do Ceará in Brazil. He serves as a deacon at the Marrtown Road Church of Christ and enjoys spending time with his wife, Dr. Carrie Stephens, and their two sons, Josiah and Joel.
